Terms of use
The plain-English ground rules for being part of Bedford Tech. No legalese, no surprises. By joining you agree to these terms and to our code of conduct.
The short version
Bedford Tech is a free community of makers and friends in Bedford, run by volunteers. Be decent, use it for what it is for, and look after each other. These terms set out what you can expect from us and what we ask of you.
Who can join
Membership is by approval, and we ask for one account per person with accurate details so the community stays a place of real people. You need to be old enough to agree to these terms. If you are joining on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to.
Your account
Keep your login details to yourself and secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so if you think someone else has got into it, tell an organiser straight away and we will help you put it right.
How you may use Bedford Tech
Our code of conduct covers how we treat each other. On top of that, please do not post anything illegal, send spam or unsolicited sales pitches, scrape or bulk-collect other members' data, probe the site's security, or pretend to be someone you are not. This is a community, not a lead list.
Your content
What you post stays yours. You give Bedford Tech permission to store and show it on the platform so the site can actually work (your posts appearing in the forum, your profile in the directory, and so on), and you confirm you have the right to share whatever you post. We may remove content that breaks these terms or the code of conduct, including automatically when it is clearly explicit or abusive.
Our platform
The Bedford Tech site, name, and the code behind it belong to us or the people we license them from. Being a member does not transfer any of that to you; please do not copy or reuse it beyond normal use of the community.
Availability
The community is free and run on a best-effort basis by volunteers. We cannot promise the site is always up, and events or features may change, move, or be cancelled. We will do our best to give you fair warning when something important changes.
Our responsibility to you
The site is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses that come from using (or not being able to use) Bedford Tech. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Suspension and leaving
We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms or the code of conduct, and we will always try a conversation first where we can. You can leave whenever you like by deleting your account, which removes your personal data after the 14-day grace period explained in our privacy notice.
Changes to these terms
As the community grows we may update these terms. We will note any meaningful change on this page and bump the version below. If you keep using Bedford Tech after a change, that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can settle any dispute about them.
Contact
The fastest way to reach us is to message an organiser in the community chat. A public contact email at hello@ is on the way, once our domain email goes live.
This is version 1 of our terms of use, last updated 13 July 2026. We will update it as the site grows and note any meaningful changes here.
